Leeuwenboschfontein - 12th to 13th August 2006
We departed early Saturday morning, with a small convoy of "real campers" who didn't mind
the 6 degree day temperature at Leeuwenbosch farm. [It was freezing cold.] Seeing that it
was so cold, we set up camp inside the barn, where we had the use of an indoor braai as well
as ablution facilities.
We made our way up the mountain, where we had lunch at the look-out, which has the most
stunning 360 degree view of the area. The area had received quite a bit of rain, so
unfortunately the main downhill had been closed due to bad erosion. However, we went
down "route 4", which is a slow route, where you would need a bit of ground clearance,
as you can pick up a few scrapes and scratches. The "dry&" stream that you drive through,
even had a bit of water in it.
Of course Nico [Grumpy] had to show us how to "park" a Land Rover in the bush, especially
if you have to service one unexpectedly. [As you can see in the picture.]
The Sunday was a glorious clear day, and most of us enjoyed a late breakfast, before we
headed home.
We had the company of a great group of people, who really enjoyed the outing.
Many thanks to them for joining us.
