Dear Members It is Sunday evening and I have just returned from the Middelpos trip organised by Clive Lucas..what an awesome weekend. Thanks to Clive and all the people who joined the trip. Click Here for the Trip Report Our club is really doing well and our Christmas Party last weekend proved the point when we had the largest participation ever. We have been constantly adapting the format of the outings and interest groups to fulfil the members requirements and to date we think we have got this right. Once again this year we have had a lot of outings and since we rarely digress from our "ten vehicles on an outing" policy all our outings have been full and in some cases where the number of vehilces has been limited by the trail owners we have seen a waiting list of members wanting to attend. Committee Members / Trail Guides We are always looking for new committee members - yes the committee is a group of volunteers and so if you fit the profile below and want to get involved then email me your details. Committee Member / Trail Guide requirements. You have been an active member for more than 12 months. You have attended the club's driving course and/or have substantial driving experience. You are a good organizer. You are easy going, easy to get on with and are prepared to take the responsibility for the group. If you are interested then email me   Outings over the holidays Things generally slow down over the holidays and thus if you are planning to go anywhere and are looking for someone to go with you.then email me and I will send your advert out to the members. 4x4 Driver Training Course We have just held another successful 4x4 Driver Training Course and once again the participants enjoyed the experience immensely. A number of the participants had very little or no experience and it was really great seeing them "climbing in" boots and all. The day dawned hot and clear and after muffins and coffee the participants, including two ladies, started their day. All went well and with the nature of the pastime it is always great when nothing goes wrong and NOTHING went wrong. We finished off with boerewors rolls and another successful day was brought to a close. Thanks to Johann Viljoen my co-instructor, Christo Welgemoed for organizing the venue for the theory training and Christoph Hollander for organizing the data projector. Biking Interest Group The biking interest group has grown to such a degree that we have decided to start a sister club for biking adventures. The club will be called Offroad Adventures Adventure Motorcycle Club and will have it's own website with a similar format to 4x4 Offroad Adventure Club, namely www.african-expeditions.com As with 4x4 Offroad Adventure Club the adventure biking club, Offroad Adventures Adventure Motorcycle Club will maintain our professional/self employed policy. Offroad Adventures Adventure Motorcycle Club will be a sister club with reciprocal membership, so if you are a member of 4x4 Offroad Adventure Club then you are automatically a member of the other. This creates an interesting situation where some of the longer 4x4 tours have an opportunity for bikes to join them and some of our biking tours create an opportunity where 4x4's can join them exploring our awesome country. Breakfast Group We have now been meeting every Thursday for 46 months and the group has grown to a nice size. Nothing profound happens but we have a good laugh and a get to de-stress completely. We meet every Thursday at 7am at the "old" Cinnabun coffee shop next to Volvo in Durban Road.
