Mont Eco - 24th to 26th November 2006

The group for the trip was made up of 7 cars i.e Ian & Veronica, Doug & Theresa, Sean & Natasha, Jorgen & Sonja, Nazier & children, Viv & Mary, Louise & Arlene. We all made our own way to Mont Eco on Friday and did a communal braai in the lapa for Friday evening. We spent the greater part of Saturday doing one of the 4X4 trails with the notorious "Knife's Edge", we all managed to complete the trail without any problems. After the trail we gathered around the pool where some were brave enough to venture into the icy water. Saturday evening saw another communal braai before doing a second trail on Sunday morning, before heading back to Cape Town, all wishing we could have stayed on a bit longer.

Weekend Highlights
- Great weather
- Excellent veiws
- Clear air
- Green vegetation after good rains
- Water in some of the rivers
- Swimmming pool
- Club gift from Mont Eco
- Gemsbok up close
- Free iced tea on arrival
- Package of info on arrival
- All completed the "Knifes Edge"
- Good company

Weekend Low points
- Gas not working for showers
- Too many ticks
- Natasha cut her finger
- Doug not feeling well after operation
- Veronica landed on her bum on the "Knife's Edge"

Points of interest
- Sean's gas contraption to keep wet wood burning
- Sonja and Jorgens bread making
- Enviro friendly running of the reserve
- A female tortoise always runs away form a male tortoise (ask Theresa, if you don't believe me)
- The Terracan of Louise and Arlene impressed us yet again

Weekend Funnies
- Veronica spotting a snake
- Nazier trying to get ticks off
- Sean counting the 85th river crossing, or was it the 87th?
- Viv had too much ice in the "bells"
- Friendly male springbok with a pair of tennis balls.............. you work it out!

Summary
- A good trip was had by all. Will return earlier in the year - say spring to catch the flowers and avoid the ticks and heat. The gas system better be working, or else!

Regards
Ian & Veronca
