Dear Members Happy New Year Well here we are in 2007. Last year was very busy with lots of activities and we are planning to make 2007 even more exciting. We have two new committee members namely Lorraine (been a member since 1999) and Clive Lucas (been a member since 2005). Welcome and thanks for offering your help. Also thank you to Bruce who is a quad fanatic and will be running the quad bike interest group. The programme for 2007 will be on the site within the next few days. Things to look forward to: Boegoeberg organised by Russell. This outing will take place in January. Valentines Dinner organised by Greg. This will be a valentines party with a difference. Bird Watching Interest Group This is a new interest group and will involve day outings as well as some camping trips. If you are interested in joining this group then send me your details so I can add you to the list. Sanparks Project We are in discussion with various people from SAN Parks and after the initial meeting it looks like we will have some fun projects to participate in during 2007. As soon as I have more details I will let the members know. Membership renewals Membership runs for 12 months from when you join and so those whose memberships are due have been sent renewals. Renewals are sent in the month when the renewal is due. Thoughts on Membership Membership costs 82 cents per day or R25 per month Membership fees have remained the same since 1998 We are the only offroad club where in excess of 90% of the members are professional or self employed (you meet like minded people) We have diverse outings ranging from 4x4 trails/weekends/long trips to social outings and training. Weekend outing groups are limited to 10 vehicles (daytrips may be more depending on the outing). We support an animal at Tygerberg Zoo Members Page Come on members....send your details and a family photo to Russell for inclusion on the members page. Dogs and other pets Please note that NO dogs or pets are allowed on any outing. This rule is there for a number of reasons, these being that the large majority of venues do not allow dogs. Secondly we all go on trips to relax and having 1 dog or 5 dogs on a trip that bark, fight and are just a nuisance is no fun for anybody except the owner. Yes, we do love animals but please keep them at home. Response to emails and trip bookings Folks please read the emails and reply to the person whose name is on the bottom of the booking sheet. That person will be expecting them and will check their emails regularly...so if you send them to me there will be no guarantee that you will get a place on the trip. Club Interest Groups The interest groups have also proved very popular amongst the club members. How do they work you ask. You are welcome to attend any of the Interest groups and you are also welcome to bring a friend to the meetings but please note that club members get priority on any outings where numbers are limited. Your guests must also fit the membership profile. Announcements If you have something special happening in your life (wedding, arrival of a baby, etc.) please email Russell so that he can put it on the site. Greg
