   Club News - February 2007

Dear Members

February is here, and it feels like May to me already. The December holiday is in the twilight zone now and .......Well here we are in 2007.

The club has been very active already and a lot of the activities for the early part of the year have been a resounding success.

Welcome to our newest members:
Tony and Tracey Ganci (joined both the 4x4 and Adventure bike clubs)
Linda and Richard Carter
Eduard and Erika Hoffman
Derek and Leria Francois
Philip and Stephanie Odendaal
Stuart and Rosemary Chadderton
Lars and Claudia Kessel
Peter Bardin (joined both the 4x4 and Adventure bike clubs)
Andre and Ena Wort
Ralph and Margaret Eliasov
Paul and Marilyn Johnston

Philip and Lesley's Bike Accident
I am pleased to report that Lesley's skin grafts were a success and she will be coming home on Sunday. Philip is doing well and asked me to thank all of you who made the effort to contact him and wish them well.

Membership Renewals
Thank you to all the members that renewed so promptly. Over 95% of the members renewed their memberships.

Upcoming Rides and Social Events

Easter Richtersveld Trip
This trip is almost full and we have two places left. For more info contact offroad@iafrica.com

Valentines Party
This is fully booked and we have 60 members attending the show at the Barnyard theatre.

Malgas Fishing Weekend
This non 4x4'ing Weekend trip is full and will be the first time the club has tried an event like this. We will leave on friday afternoon and spend the weekend fishing for kob from three boats on the Breede River.

24 Rivers Weekend Hike
We still have a few places on this outing. This is a very easy going fun hike/swim near Gouda.

Overlanding Outing 21st to 25th March
I am thinking about doing an "overlanding outing" that means exploring/ gravel roads/ visiting little towns/ finding out their history/ etc. for five days. The 21st is a holiday so if you take the 22nd and 23rd you get 5 days to explore. I am not sure where I want to go yet but I am thinking about a ride up the Eastern side of the N7 and down the Western side - doing a mini West Coast trip.
You must be flexible and accomodate the changes in the route in your stride. The group will be small.
Any one keen? - then contact Greg - offroad@iafrica.com
