Midweek Madness - 19th April 2007 As usual as the sun set the oranges and reds filled the sky and the evening was warm. We had all met at the Swartland Engen garage and departed for Chris's chicken farm. Funny venue you might say, but Chris has a small dam on the farm and has built an island in the middel of it with a lapa, wind shields and lots of braai fires. There was not a breath of wind so the wind shields rather contained the heat for the immense fires that Chris had built. br>On arrival the tyres were sprayed with disinfectant to prevent any bacteria being brought into the chicken farm. We followed the trail to the dam and soon everyone was crossing the bridge to the island. The flames danced all around us and soon the flames animated the conversation with shadows dancing across the wind shields. Soon the meat was placed on the fires and the smell of braai permeated the air. Slowly the group started to fade and there were only six of us left. Time moves too fast. It is almost 11pm and time to set off home. This was another memorable evening. Thanks Chris for the use of the island
