Dear Members The year has come and gone and soon we will be waiting in the New Year count down. What has stood out during 2008 for you? For me it was the long trips, the club meetings, the great attendance and of course the friendships. The other amazing reality of our members was the response to the Lesotho trip of 2009. Within a few days we had a full crew and more enthusiasm than I anticipated and so 2009 will see a team of 4x4 Offroad Adventure Club members building two big jungle gyms in Semonkong for some very under privileged folk. Something else that I am very proud of is the fact that in three years we have donated over R60 000 to charities and this excludes all the clothes, blankets and other essentials that have been donated by the club and it's members. At a guess I would estimate that we have handed over more than six bakkie loads of clothes and blankets. I think that we should be very proud of this achievement! The economic situation has changed the shape of some of the outings and we have tried to organise outings that are not too far from the Peninsula and a perfect example of this was the great outing that Russell organised in and around Durbanville. With the fuel price dropping and the Rand improving we should see outings in 2009 that take us further afield. The committee members have already been talking about their dream outings for 2009 and if it all works out then we should have some really special outings next year. The 2009 Programme will be available early in January and then you can start planning your outings. A very special trip in 2009 will be a tour to Austria and Germany to ski and link up with a 4x4 club and experience some European 4x4'ing. More details soon.
