Midweek Madness - January 2009 Kevin and I attended the first 2009 Midweek Madness outing as new members. We were warmly welcomed by the group at the Swartland Engen and then drove to Chris's poultry farm outside Atlantis. Upon entering the farm, all the vehicle tyres were sprayed with disinfectant. Chris's son then escorted us to their "island" in the middle of a large dam where a number of braai fires had been prepared. We all made ourselves comfortable in the lapa/boma, comparing stories on travel and destinations, whilst learning new ones. The south easter died down at around 09.00 pm. Under a perfectly still warm, starry evening sky, we packed up at 10.30pm and made our way home. Thank you for the good company, and a special thanks to Chris, Brenda and Damian for a special venue.
