Boating Interest Group trip to Port Owen - February 2009
Another annual institution is the Boating Interest Group's
trip to Port Owen.
Clive once again organised a most amazing weekend to
Port Owen and with Tracey and Toni not being able to
join us Andy Brown joined us for the weekend.
The weekend started on Friday afternoon with our migration
up the West Coast. Eric, Andy and Greg took boats and
the idea was to relax, wakeboard, ski, fish and crayfish.
Friday evening the wind was hectic but Saturday morning
found us on Andy's boat heading out to find crayfish.
The sea was smooth and soon we had quota and headed
back.
Each family had one meal to prepare and so the "work"
aspect was minimal. Clive created a most amazing calamari
and prawn dinner on the Friday, a standard was set which
all others aspired to but never reached.
Sunday the wind was blowing but was not too bad and
soon we were venturing out in two boats to catch some
crayfish and some fish. Soon the wind was howling and
after three hours only 3 crayfish were landed. We slowly
worked the choppy waves back to the jetty and a big
birthday breakfast for Clive.
After just relaxing on the stoep we put the boats on
the trailers and turned south, towards home.
Thanks Clive for organising a great weekend.
