Dear Members
Firstly we would like to thank you all for your support
with the Lesotho project. We have raised just over R27
000 and this has been used to buy the material for the
jungle gym and we will be buying school shoes, winter
tights for the girls, nappies for one of the orphans
with cerebral palsy and lastly baby milk powder.
A very special thank you to all who have donated clothes,
money, stationary, childrens games, etc. By the time
we leave we would have collected enough clothing to
fill two Vito busses...I guess in terms of black bags
we have collected about 200 bags of clothes.
Three people must be singled out and they are Karsten
and his family who have essentially built the jungle
gym working over weekends, Marius from Gauteng who got
the whole Klerksdorp community involved and supplied
an enormous trailer of clothes and Chris Wright who
made a large financial contribution to the project.
It is wonderful to see everyone getting involved and
assisting, each in their own way.
The final team will consist of 20 people, 17 from the
Cape Branch and three from Gauteng. We leave next Saturday
at 5am, stay in Wepener on the Saturday night and then
get to Semonkong on Sunday. The main jungle gym will
take about three days to build and thereafter we will
travel to another school to repair their jungle gym.
Clive our gastronomic wizard will be doing all our catering
- thanks Clive. The temperature in Semonkong is below
freezing at night and chilly during the day so we will
surely sit around a big fire at night.
Please note that on our return we will send out individual
thank you letters as well as one from the Semonkong
orphange.
Lastly we just want you to know that your money has
been used effectively and we will be making a difference.
Each member of the team is covering their own fuel,
accomodation, road tax and food costs. I think you should
all be very proud to know that in the last three years
the 4x4 Offroad Adventure Club - Western Cape and it's
members have donated almost R100 000 to charity - namely
the Semonkong orphanage and the Urban Edge Care Cupboard
(helping people in need). This is in addition to all
the clothes and blankets donated. Thank you!
Kind regards
Greg
