Dear Members

Well we are back from Lesotho and I am back from the Richtersveld after spending a week filming a documentary for Supersport 2. Life is great!

The Lesotho report is attached and once again thank you all for your amazing support. Firstly to the team who travelled to Lesotho with me, Karsten for all his work in the designing and planning, Frans and Chris for their substantial financial support, Marius and his team for all the clothing, toys, etc. and especially all of you (over 50 families supported the project) who donated money, gave clothes, school books, games, teddy bears and stationary. I am unaware on ANY 4x4 club and any other club who have donated in excess of R100 000 to charity in the last three years. Thank you all.

After being back for 6 days I was off again on a trip to the Richtersveld with Andrew St Pierre White to film a documentary for Supersport 2. I have known Andrew for many years and he approached me as, in his words "nobody knows the Richtersveld like you", well I have been there over 100 times and we spent 6 days filming in the National Park, in the conservancy and in some remote areas. The weather was hot, about 28 degrees and then on Saturday I woke to a Cape Town special of about 8 degrees.

Winter is always a difficult time for outings as the weather can mess us around, but, we will plan the outings and see how the weather influences them. Russell's trip to Sutherland is going to be amazing but you will need some decent sleeping bags and clothing as the nights can get rather cold. The coldest I have experienced in the area is about minus 8 deg but that being said, if the snow has fallen the scenery changes and it is really beautiful.

I am waiting for confirmation of a Matroosberg chilling weekend in the ski hut and will email you all once I have a date. We will go up Matroosberg in August/ September or as soon as decent snow has fallen. Although a very dangerous mountain it is pretty and with normal care we have never had any problems in the past.

We are putting our finishing touches to a 4x4 Offroad Adventure Club 4x4 driving competition which will be exclusively for members where the main prize will be a set of Bridgestone tyres. This will take place in October and will be exclusively for paid up members.

Russell has almost completed the planning for the Christmas party and this year it will be a camp over weekend. You will have at least 5 months notice and can start planning now.

Lastly we would like to boost membership of 4x4 Offroad Adventure Club so if you bring us four friends who join during the next three months your membership will be extended by 12 months for free.

We are looking forward to seeing you on the winter outings.

Kind regards

Greg
