I cannot believe that another month has gone and that a third of the year is over. Time
seems to fly as one gets older!
I am spending Easter Weekend in Port Owen with friends from the 4x4 Offroad Adventure Club and
although the intention was to spend the weekend relaxing and fishing the wind is gusting 25 knots and
so I decided to get Club News for April done. I have the family chilling and I am sipping red wine and
listening to Dire Straits.
March has turned out to be another busy month for the Offroad Adventure Club and Philip's trip to
the Namaqua Trail left on Thursday and Russell's trip to the Richtersveld leaves in two weeks time.
We have finalized the 4x4 driver training venue and the email will be sent out shortly. This course
is ideal for all members who have not attended a course previously and it is also a great opportunity
for the wives/partners to attend a course as you never know when your other half may have to get you
and the family out of the doggy do.
We are planning to present club news in a new format soon and are busy working on some ideas at
the moment. The idea is to present the news on a DVD and include some footage from previous trips and
this obviously requires members filming the outings on digital tape for inclusion in the DVD. We are
excited about this and once again it will be a first in South Africa.
I would also like to comment about the torches that you/we ordered. We have ordered R8000 worth
of torches and they should be here any day now. Your money is 100% safe and we will refund you
immediately should you wish to cancel your order ... BUT I have spoken to Andy and he confirms that
they should be here any day.
We have tied up more sponsors for Offroad Adventure Club events and our next meeting will be great.
March Midweek Madness was fantastic and once again the weather played ball. As the sun began to
set the evening breeze dropped and the "sand pit" at Karsten and Daria's farm was wonderful.
Looking east the orange sunset lit up the Stellenbosch mountains and soon the flames from the braai
fires danced around. The evening was warm and when I left at 10pm it was still pleasant and had it
not been a working day on Thursday I would have been tempted to lurk a lot longer.
Please keep an eye on the website for updates and trip reports.
Hope the month is a good one for you.
If you have any questions please email me.
