Dear Members It is half way through August and work has had me pinned to my chair, hence the late August News. I am going to be in Johannesburg on Wednesday and Thursday and I will be attending our Gauteng branch's BIG Cheese and Wine evening. Members have assisted and called on their contacts and have collected over R120,000 worth of prizes for the evening. Big News is that Russell turned 50 but the face lifts seem to work.. :-) 4x4 Offroad Adventure Club has been very busy and to keep you updated we have advertised 59 outings to date of which 48 have already taken place. News from the last few weeks • The folks are back from the Transkei trip. • The Zimbabwe trip leaves next week. • The Womens Day trip was fantastic with lots of wonderful feedback. • Last week's Midweek Madness was the nicest MM outing I have been on in a long time and we had great attendance. • Hein's Dune trip was well supported as always. • Driver training - we have now trained and or processed 44 club members during our first month of offering accredited training. • The Bridgestone Night Challenge was the biggest event yet with 40 participants and a growth of 42% over last year. • The Try Dive was a great success with 20+ people attending and a number planning to complete the course. • Our cultural evenings at the Theatre on the Bay are well attended - we attend the Defending the Caveman production. • George and Susan's Sutherland trip had glowing reports and although they hoped for snow it was an awesome weekend. • Our Valentines in August event is next weekend at the Blue Peter. • I leave on Friday for the second full Sutherland Trip. • Our next club meeting at Outdoor Warehouse is on the 1st of September - make a plan to attend. • Our Richtersveld Namibia trip leaves mid September. • The Technical Evening at Goch and Cooper was a fantastic evening with 30 members attending. • Some members attended the Shutter Bugs photographic course. Club Meeting at Outdoor Warehouse Please do not forget the meeting at Outdoor Warehouse on the 1st September. Accredited Training 4x4 Offroad Adventure Club can now offer accredited training and Recognition of Prior Learning courses under the 4x4 Offroad Academy - Johann Tyres and Greg will fulfill this function for the club members. Club Jackets The 4x4 Offroad Adventure Club jackets and body warmers have arrived. Please contact me to collect. NSRI Dune Drive The date for the NSRI day is 02 October 2010. This is when Eskom open the private nature reserve for this special fund raising event - dune driving, beautiful scenery and some spectacular sea views. There will be live music throughout the afternoon. Wimpy will again run the food stall (not the spit braai). Bar will be available at the lapa. NSRI are planning a lot more activities for kids and adults, so entertainment value should be good throughout the day. They will have a number of stalls selling or exhibiting products. There will be lucky draws for each group as well. Have booked Group B commencing 09h00 and Group D commencing 10h00.
