Dear Members
We have had two really great trips in September, one to the Richtersveld and one to Klein
Tafelberg (the best camp site in the Western Cape).
- The Richtersveld trips consisted of almost 20 vehicles ( Roger took one group and I took
the other) and with about 30 minutes between the two groups we never had any bunching or
delays and only met one another at lunch and at camp in the evening. The weather was great...a
lot warmer than our June trip and everyone had a good time.
- Last weekend was Klein Tafelberg, the group was small and once again it was great, lots of
laughs and the trail was excellent.
- Gloria and I together with Karsten, Daria and family attend our Gauteng branch's 10th
anniversary - we had a really great time - thanks to all the Gautengers for their fantastic
hospitality.
- The club meeting at Outdoor Warehouse was very well attended and we received the most
emails ever saying how much you enjoyed the evening.
- The Photographic Interest Group has a meeting on Tuesday evening where all members present
a few pics with the theme for the month being sunsets.... all are welcome - please conatct
me for details.
- Eight members are attending the Shutter Bugs photographic course in the Southern Suburbs.
Now that the weather is changing we will re-commence our Midweek Madness outings and we
have two other outings coming up in October, one day outing and a weekend outing.
I understand that the emails have been a bit slow this month but as I have said before work
comes first and we have still met our monthly quota.
We have a number of new members, namely:
- Michael and Christa Steyn
- Cassiem and Nazeema De Wet
- Mike and Daleen Ilsley
- Tai and Jean Collard
- Alistair Daniels
- Stuart and Emma Cloete
We hope they will enjoy their membership as much as we do.
Midweek Madness
Midweek Madness outings are a midweek outing that usually includes a braai and often some
driving. You are usually home by 10.30pm and they are ALWAYS fun.
Our display at Safari Centre has been upgraded and it now boasts a brush aluminium frame, the
photographs are displayed in a digital photo frame and when complete it will look fantastic – thanks to
Roger who is running this project.
The Photographic Interest Group has taken off in a big way with 22 people attending the first
meeting and over 20 attending the first "show and crit". You don't have to have an expensive camera
just the desire to improve your pics. We have Pro Photographers Justin and Andrew from Shutterbugs who
crit the pics and choose a monthly winner. We have themes for the rest of the year and you are invited
to submit your best two pics (theme topic) and two general pics. Thanks to Lisa for arranging for us
to use the (Technikon) CPUT for our meetings.
Bank deposits – people, people, people…please use your name in the reference NOT the trip …I have
absolutely NO idea who you are. I have at least eight "membership renewals" at the moment.
Lastly I try to respond to emails within a day or two BUT regrettably work does come first and
sometimes I will only respond by the following weekend. Don't feel rejected or book a therapy session…you
WILL get an answer.
Members Page
Come on members....send your details and a family photo to Russell for inclusion on the
members page. Russell also adds everyone to the birthday list, so send these as well.
